Maria Titova said, prior to the start of the Russian RG championship, her goal was not about taking first place but to perform as good as possible.

Russian RG championship ended on Sunday in St. Petersburg. Titova came first in all four individual apparatus, but remained below the winners in the all-around competitions.

“Of course, I’m happy with my performance, but most importantly, the trainer was pleased. I just hoped for a good performance. I was not thinking about places or scores. I was just hoping that I would do the routines cleanly,” Titova said to the reporters at the end of competition.

According to the gymnast, the hoop exercise was the easiest routine. “I have been doing it for a long time and I feel the calmest when performing it. In training I also do well with hoop. For me, hoop is my most prepared routine,” she said.

In the national championship Russian team leaders Margarita Mamun and Yana Kudryavtseva did not participate. Titova stressed that she feels “boosted” by frequently competing with them.

Also the gymnast explained the reason for her failure in the all-around competitions. “I was a little bit nervous and haven’t worked enough behind the carpet in the training area during the AA, that’s why I performed not good enough.” Titova summarized.
